Nearly Twenty Years of Clairvoyance: A New Chapter
A year ago, I decided to take a break. I use the word deliberately, because this period never meant turning my back on clairvoyance, still less drawing a line under it. After nearly twenty years devoted to this profession, I simply felt the need to step away for a while.
Clairvoyance and mediumship occupy a very particular place in my life. They have become a genuine passion, but they are also profoundly demanding. Receiving someone, listening carefully, welcoming their questions, their emotions and sometimes their most personal concerns requires a degree of presence that cannot be faked.
After years of consultations and thousands of encounters, I needed to find a different rhythm. I needed to breathe, to take some distance from the routine, and to think seriously about what I wanted the next chapter to look like.
I know that decision was not necessarily understood by everyone, and I can understand why. Some people were disappointed that they could no longer consult me during that period. Some had their habits, others were waiting for an appointment, and some simply wanted to reconnect.
For a few people, the break may have felt sudden.
It probably was.
But it was necessary.
I have always believed that a consultation should be a genuine moment of attention and presence. I did not want to continue simply out of habit when I knew I needed some distance. I wanted to return only when I could do so with the availability, desire and energy that this profession deserves.
That year ultimately gave me a great deal.
It allowed me to step away from the daily rhythm of consultations and to look at my own journey differently. As the months passed, I realised that what I missed was not simply a professional activity. I missed the consultations, of course, but also the encounters, the exchanges, the intuition, the human stories and that very particular connection created when someone decides to place their trust in you.
I understood that I did not need to leave this profession behind in order to protect myself.
I simply needed to return to it differently.
Today, I feel ready to continue.
A new site for a new chapter
When I decided to return, I knew I did not want simply to put another website online listing my consultations.
After a year away, pretending nothing had happened would have made little sense. Time had moved on. My perspective had changed. My projects had changed too. I wanted this new site to reflect who I am today rather than reproduce what I had done before.
I therefore chose to give particular attention to every detail and to create an environment that felt genuinely considered. This site represents far more to me than a booking tool. It accompanies my return and, for many people, it will be the first point of contact with Karl Stephane, whether they are discovering my work for the first time or returning after several years.
I wanted that experience to reflect the care I bring to the rest of my work: in the design, the information provided and the way my approach is presented.
Here you can discover my background, my way of working, the different consultation formats, testimonials from people who have chosen to share their experience, and all the information needed to contact the Concierge.
The Concierge handles requests relating to consultations, general enquiries, professional projects and media opportunities.
I also wanted the site to reflect the different sides of what I do, because my work has never been limited to consultations alone.
There is clairvoyance, of course.
But there is also writing, books, encounters, projects and, today, a greater desire to speak.
Nearly twenty years of practice and thousands of encounters
When I look back over the years, what comes to mind first is not a number.
It is the people.
I have had the privilege of meeting thousands of individuals, all with different stories, expectations and ways of approaching a consultation. Some knew exactly what they wanted to ask. Others needed time before they could even put into words what had brought them to me.
I have received public figures, artists, professionals and people accustomed to highly exposed environments. I have also received completely anonymous women and men who arrived simply with their own story and their own questions.
Some were extremely demanding, sometimes very precise about what they expected. Those consultations taught me never to rely too comfortably on experience and always to remain attentive. Others were much more reserved and reminded me that a consultation needs enough space to find its own rhythm.
That diversity has taught me an enormous amount.
There is no single way to receive someone.
You do not speak in exactly the same way to a person who arrives with ten carefully prepared questions as you do to someone who barely knows where to begin. You have to listen, observe, adapt and, above all, remain open enough not to decide in advance what the consultation is going to become.
Over time, I have also understood that behind a simple question there is often a much larger story.
Someone may ask whether a relationship will resume when what they really want to know is whether they should continue waiting. Someone else may ask about their professional future while already standing on the edge of a change they have not yet dared to embrace.
It is this human dimension that has always interested me most in clairvoyance.
And it is still what gives meaning to my work today.
A recognition that forms part of my story
A career is made up of stages, encounters and occasional moments of recognition.
In 2018, I was fortunate to be selected by the Guide de la Voyance, an important moment in my professional journey. I still regard that selection with particular affection because it recognised work that had been built patiently over the years.
But with time, I have also come to see experience differently.
It is built consultation after consultation, conversation after conversation, and through the trust that develops gradually with the people you meet. Professional recognition can mark an important milestone, but it is ultimately the thousands of encounters that shape a career.
Some people have returned to consult me several times at very different moments in their lives. Others have contacted me again after many years. Some have recommended me to people close to them, while others simply continued on their own path after our meeting.
Each of those connections has contributed, in its own way, to the professional I am today.
A passion that sometimes requires knowing when to stop
During this year away, I learned something I probably already knew but had never fully applied to myself: when your work is also your passion, sometimes you have to step away from it temporarily in order to continue doing it well.
Clairvoyance asks a great deal of the person practising it. You have to be able to receive other people’s emotions without carrying them away with you, remain focused when stories become complex and maintain the same quality of attention even after years of practice.
That is not always easy.
The person consulting you should never feel that they are sitting in front of someone operating mechanically or already thinking about the next appointment.
This break allowed me to regain perspective and to understand more clearly what I needed. Above all, it confirmed something very simple: the passion was still there.
When you choose to walk away from something and eventually find yourself missing it, that probably tells you something.
That is certainly what happened to me with clairvoyance.
Words, books and another way of sharing
Consultations have never been my only way of sharing what experience has taught me.
Throughout my career, writing has also occupied an important place. Today, it feels particularly relevant to this new chapter, because it allows me to approach certain subjects differently and to give more time to ideas that cannot always be developed during a consultation.
A consultation is direct, immediate and deeply personal.
Writing has a different relationship with time.
It allows you to develop an idea, revisit an experience, choose your words more carefully and then leave the reader free to continue the reflection for themselves.
I have had the pleasure of sharing that experience with readers and discovering the very particular connection created when something you have written reaches someone you have never met.
Writing naturally extends my desire to speak about this profession. It gives me the space to explore thoughts that do not necessarily belong in a consultation and to share what nearly twenty years of practice have taught me.
Today, I want to keep writing.
But I also want to speak more.
Going where I did not always want to go
For a long time, I kept a certain distance from environments I nevertheless know very well: radio, television, interviews, podcasts, studios and conversations with journalists.
Not because I was afraid of being seen.
Quite the opposite.
I know those worlds, their codes, their excesses and sometimes their strange fascination with spectacle well enough to have had very little desire to become part of something I often found artificial and, at times, rather macabre.
Today, after nearly twenty years of practice, thousands of consultations, my experience as an author and this year of distance, I feel differently.
I want to speak about clairvoyance in my own words.
I want to explain what a consultation really is, to talk about intuition and mediumship, but also about the demands of this profession and everything one learns after spending so many years listening to other people’s stories.
I now want to go into places I might once have preferred to avoid.
Radio, television, podcasts, interviews and media conversations are all projects I am willing to open up to.
I am not looking to be everywhere, and I have no desire to convince everyone.
I simply want to speak, to share an experience that has become a genuine part of my life, and to do so without disguising what I think.
I also believe clairvoyance deserves to be discussed differently.
It intrigues, fascinates, raises questions and carries its share of prejudice. I would rather address those questions than avoid them.
After all these years, I feel sufficiently comfortable with my own journey to explain what I do, how I work and what this profession genuinely represents to me.
Why Karl Stephane’s Journal?
That is how this Journal came about.
I wanted a space where it would be possible to take time, away from short formats and ready-made answers. Somewhere I could develop an idea, revisit an experience, talk about a stage in my journey or simply share a perspective on something that interests me.
Naturally, I will write about clairvoyance and mediumship, but also about intuition, human relationships, encounters, choices, turning points and all those moments that sometimes force us to look at life differently.
I will also return to certain professional experiences, talk about my work as an author, my projects and this new period that is beginning now.
Above all, I want Karl Stephane’s Journal to have a real voice.
I want people to read it for what it says and for the way it says it, rather than seeing it as another commercial extension of the website.
Some pieces will be more personal. Others will be closely connected to my profession. But each one will begin with an experience, a thought or a question that deserves more than a few hurried lines.
Of course, everything entrusted to me during consultations will remain confidential.
Those stories belong to the people who shared them with me.
I can write about what those encounters have taught me.
Never at the expense of the people who trusted me.
A new page
I do not see this past year as a parenthesis that should somehow be erased from my story.
It belongs to it.
With hindsight, it was probably necessary.
It taught me that it is possible to love a profession deeply, to need some distance from it for a time, and then to return with an even stronger desire to continue.
I return today with nearly twenty years of practice behind me, thousands of people encountered, public figures and completely anonymous individuals alike, demanding consultations that pushed me to progress, my selection by the Guide de la Voyance in 2018, my experience as an author and everything these years have gradually built in me.
I also return knowing that some people were disappointed when I decided to stop for a while.
It is partly for them that reopening this door today gives me particular pleasure.
But above all, I return with a new desire: to share more.
Through consultations, certainly, but also through books, writing, this new website and now this Journal.
I want to talk about a profession that remains a passion, share what experience has taught me and reach new audiences, whether through the press, radio, television, podcasts or simply through conversation.
For this new chapter, I wanted to take my time and create a site that truly reflected the importance of this return. I hope it makes you want to stay for a while, discover my journey, follow the projects ahead and return regularly to read the next pages of this Journal.
After a year away, I do not feel any need to start again from the beginning.
I would rather continue.
Continue a story that began nearly twenty years ago, with everything those years have taught me and with a new desire to see where it can still lead.
Welcome to my new website and to Karl Stephane’s Journal.
I hope you enjoy discovering it as much as I enjoyed imagining and creating it.
