Between the lake and old streets.
Annecy has an unmistakable setting: the lake, the Thiou canal and old streets along the water. The Palais de l’Île, arcades and historic façades tell a Savoyard story extending beyond postcard reflections. It is a city of water, stone and passages.
A walk might begin around the Thiou, Palais de l’Île and the lakeshore. These landmarks are different, yet together they reveal the identity of Annecy: a sense of place, architectural memory and everyday habits. Across Haute-Savoie, visitors and residents do not necessarily see the same things. The destination deserves more than a handful of familiar images.
