The village beyond the resort.
Megève existed as an Alpine village long before it became a renowned mountain destination. Timber façades, cobbled streets and the square by Saint-Jean-Baptiste church retain an intimate Savoyard scale even in busy periods. Its elegance does not depend solely on display.
A walk might begin around the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the village square and views towards Mont d’Arbois. These landmarks are different, yet together they reveal the identity of Megève: a sense of place, architectural memory and everyday habits. Across the French Alps, visitors and residents do not necessarily see the same things. The destination deserves more than a handful of familiar images.
