A seaside resort with a history.
Deauville grew around the idea of a seaside retreat. Eclectic villas, orderly streets and the famous boardwalk tell a story of holidays and high society. Yet it is not only a backdrop for cinema and racing: markets, walks and the changing seasons are part of its Norman daily life.
A walk might begin around Les Planches, Belle Époque villas and Place Morny. These landmarks are different, yet together they reveal the identity of Deauville: a sense of place, architectural memory and everyday habits. Across the Normandy coast, visitors and residents do not necessarily see the same things. The destination deserves more than a handful of familiar images.
