A city of cliffs and valleys.
Luxembourg City has a striking geography of plateaus, valleys and paths between the upper and lower town. Its Old Town and fortifications recall its strategic role in European history. From the Corniche, the view falls towards Grund, where streets follow the Alzette river.
A walk might begin around the Old Town, Grund and Bock fortifications. These landmarks are different, yet together they reveal the identity of Luxembourg: a sense of place, architectural memory and everyday habits. Across the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, visitors and residents do not necessarily see the same things. The destination deserves more than a handful of familiar images.
