A village in the Saanenland.
Gstaad enjoys an international reputation while retaining the scale of an Alpine village. Timber chalets, Saanenland slopes and the resort’s streets place the mountains at the centre of everyday life. Its elegance lies as much in traditional architecture as in the room left for walking and quiet.
A walk might begin around Gstaad’s promenade, timber chalets and the Saanen valley. These landmarks are different, yet together they reveal the identity of Gstaad: a sense of place, architectural memory and everyday habits. Across the Bernese Oberland, visitors and residents do not necessarily see the same things. The destination deserves more than a handful of familiar images.
