The city behind the Croisette.
Cannes has a worldwide image shaped by its film festival and the Croisette. A walk up to Le Suquet reveals older streets, views over the bay and the memory of a fishing port. The city becomes a collection of neighbourhoods with a history beyond its major events.
A walk might begin around Le Suquet, the Old Port and the Lérins Islands. These landmarks are different, yet together they reveal the identity of Cannes: a sense of place, architectural memory and everyday habits. Across the French Riviera, visitors and residents do not necessarily see the same things. The destination deserves more than a handful of familiar images.
